MUA Undress Me Too Review

I am a neutral eye-shadow LOVER. I find strong bright colours don't really suit my eyes so I am always on the hunt for more neutrals to add to my collection. After trying and loving the MUA Undressed palette, I was excited to try out their latest addition. As you may be aware, the MUA Undressed palette is a dupe for the original Urban Decay Naked while the MUA Undress Me Too palette is supposed to be a dupe for the Naked 2 palette. Considering the vast price difference, it is definitely worth your while trying out the MUA, even just to see if you would get use out of the colours! There are 12 shades in this palette and it retails in Superdrug for between €4 and €5.

The packaging of this palette is, as you can see, basic. The lid is clear and the surrounds white, which I much prefer to the black casing on other MUA palettes. It does come with double ended application sponge, which can be handy for on the go, or for precise application.

Now onto the fun part, the swatching! The matte shades in this palette, of which there are three, are not as creamy as their metallic counterparts. This difference is amplified when it comes to swatching them.

The top row of the palette comprises of the lighter end of the shadows offered and they are more on the warm end of the spectrum. On the very left in the images below is Naked, a matte vanilla, which does not show up in the images at all! However, I find when I load it onto an eyeshadow brush, it provides a lovely all-over-the-lid colour to neutralise the discolouration on my eyelids. The other matte shade in this line up is Lavish, which is a plum brown colour which I love! It's great to pop into the crease to lightly define it or to blend out some stronger shades. Devotion, Fiery and Dreamy are all metallic shades in the copper-brown colour family. They look wonderful pressed into the middle of the lid, and Dreamy works well in the outer-V. Shy is a shimmery champagne colour which is wonderful as an inner-corner or brow-highlight colour, but thankfully it isn't packed with chunks of glitter.

The bottom row of this palette comprises of cooler silvers and browns and a great matte black. Tranquil is a shade that I find I can use most days because it is metallic enough to give a nice sheen, but not so shimmery as to make me look like I have disco balls for eyes! Exposed and Reveal are two shades that I have nothing like in my collection. There are a medium and light silver shades which are useful for both light day looks and deeper evening looks. Wink is a wonderful complex shade that looks darker in the pan than when swatched. It is a medium toned brown with a gold sheen. Obsessed is a dark silver that works well with Exposed and Reveal to deepen the look for night time. Corrupt is a great matte black that I normally use on an angled brush and press it into my lash line for soft definition.

The metallic shades wear for about 8 hours with no shadow base but the matte ones do not wear quite as long.  I can't compare the MUA palette to the Urban Decay because I don't own it! However, at only €4, the MUA is a great choice if you are considering splurging €45 on the Urban Decay one and aren't sure if you will get use out of all the shades and get value for your money. The MUA offers 12 shades for just €4, and at just 30c for an eye shadow, how could you say no? I think if you are looking to expand your collection of neutrals, or just want to dabble with more neutral metallics, the MUA Undress Me Too should definitely be added to your shopping list!

This is my first ever review so please let me know what you think of it :) Do you think you'll be picking up the MUA Undress Me Too, or is there only so many neutrals that a girl needs!

Keep the best side out,

An Introduction

While I am eager to upload blog posts like no ones business, I thought it might be best to introduce myself to whoever happens to find themselves reading my ramblings! My (nick)name is B, a shortened version of my birth name, but it is what most people call me so I'll stick with that. I am a 19 year old college student from a rural town in Ireland with a mild obsession for all things beauty, makeup, and motivational mantras.

You may be wondering why I started this blog, and it is simply because I need a space where I can unload my mind about all the things I am passionate about, and maybe I'll get to interact with like-minded people along the way.

The title of my blog, "Keeping the best side out", comes from a phrase my brother regularly says. While he usually means in a joking way, I think it's a pretty cool phrase to live by. No matter how tough times are, a great way of dealing with it is to focus on the positive, and keep the best side out. Needless to say I am excited to begin, so expect a beauty post in the next few days :) Until then, keep the best side out,

B xo
